From the WWI Doughboy monument in downtown
Meridian to the Official Mississippi Vietnam Veterans Memorial
in Ocean Springs, Mississippi pays unabashed homage to its
military men. As the scene of some of the fiercest fighting
of the American Civil War, the state features numerous places
of interest to Civil War buffs. These include Grand Gulf Military
Monument Park and the Vicksburg National Military Park --
site of one of the Civil War's most decisive battles.
Mississippi is home to a number of active
Military bases, all of which are an active part of their local
community. The Mississippi
Military Communities Council web site provides more information on
these important facilities.
