Biloxi Lighthouse

The Biloxi Lighthouse was assembled in 1848 and is still standing strong over 150 years later. The Biloxi Lighthouse is famous because it was the first cast iron lighthouse in the south and stands at over 65 ft. tall in the middle of a four-lane highway.

What makes the Biloxi Lighthouse even more special is the fact that it was the first lighthouse with female watchers. The most famous watcher was Maria Younghans who watched the lighthouse for 53 years. She even served during the civil war! The Biloxi Lighthouse is filled with history and stands as a monument to the ingenuity and courage of America.
